The order will be enforced from 10 May 2021 up until 6 June 2021.

The Senior Minister for Security and Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (on 8 May 2021) announced that all interstate and interdistrict travel activities will be banned for a period of 4 weeks starting Monday (10 May). As reported by Astro Awani, you may only cross district or state lines should you have prior approval from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) first.

However, the Senior Minister clarified that one can still travel across districts and states for work purposes. For this, a PDRM approval is not required and a confirmation letter from their respective employers are sufficient.

Furthermore, Ismail Sabri further asserted that several other activities will be prohibited within the same period (10 May until 6 June 2021) in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 in our country. These include:

  • Social, education and economic activities that involves mass crowds or gatherings.
  • Official, social and face-to-face activities involving the public and private sector.
