The body of a seven-year-old boy was found in a water barrel in Taman Krubong Jaya, Melaka, after he was allegedly abused by his birth mother and stepfather.

As according to Berita Harian, Head of the state Criminal Investigation Department, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sukri Kaman shared that the boy is believed to have drowned in the water barrel at his house, but investigations also found physical injuries to his body.

He added that they have since detained the mother and stepfather, who are 32-years-old and 38-years-old, respectively.

Abuse 1

“The Bilik Gerakan (DCC) Melaka Tengah received a call at about 4pm from a man who informed that his child had drowned in a water barrel at their house. Investigations at the scene found that the victim is a seven-year-old boy and physical inspections found bruises and injuries on several body parts,” he said.

His body has since been taken to the Forensics department of the Melaka Hospital for an autopsy and an investigation paper has been opened in accordance with Section 302 of the Penal Code for committing murder.

This comes just months after the boy was surrendered to his birth mother by his foster family who had taken care of him for over six years.

Abuse 2 1

Based on reports by Bernama, his adoptive mother, 50-year-old Norlida Abu Hassan, shared that she is still heartbroken despite accepting news of the boy’s death, as she had loved him like he was her own flesh and blood.

The last she had seen the boy was in November 2020, a month after she had surrendered him to his birth mother, who had expressed her desire to take him back.

“I regret it, I should have protected him but because I understood his mother’s situation as she might really miss him, I was willing to let him return to them. But, I did not expect that a boy that was so loved, would be gone in a blink of an eye, just like that,” she said.

We genuinely hope that the authorities get to the bottom of this and take the appropriate action against the perpetrators.
