Father Drowned From The Floods In Pahang, Authorities Still Looking For Missing Son

We have been reading many reports of different states being flooded these past few days. Unfortunately, one of the first few lives robbed by these floods in Pahang is a 58-year-old staff from Jerantut District Forest Office named Zulkarnain Hitam.

The son of the victim is, Ukai Iskandar, 23, is also reportedly lost due to the flood in Kampung Gintong, which took place on 3 January, as reported by Harian Metro.

Jerantut District Police Chief Superintendent Mazlan Hassan said the victim was found drowned around 10.30pm. It is also believed that he had been swept away by strong currents of the water while walking home with his three sons, after moving their car to higher grounds.

One of his sons, Ulai, who is also a student of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) in disappeared during the flood and is yet to be found.

“It is understood that all of them were walking from Kampung Gintong to return to their home in Taman Perdana, which is located about two kilometres away from the location where Iskandar parked his car during the incident,” he explained.

Mazlan added on to say that the other two children of the victim, aged 15 and 13, however, were rescued by the public.

The operation to recover Ukai which started around 11 pm involving 17 members of the search and rescue team. The mission had to be stopped at 3.30 am due to the worsening weather.

Mazlan advised the public to be vigilant with the development of floods and always abide by the instructions of the authorities throughout the flood season to avoid unwanted incidents.
