WhatsApp users, please take note!

It has been reported that some WhatsApp users would find themselves unable to send messages starting 1 January 2021.

iPhone and Android users will need to take these steps in ensuring that they can continue to send ‘Happy New Year’ messages after the clock strikes midnight.

According to Birmingham Live, the popular messaging services will stop working on certain old models unless they upgrade their phones to the latest operating system.

Apart from that, it is also said that the messenger app will no longer be supported by certain smartphone models that do not run on iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3 operating systems, starting January 2021. This includes the iPhone 4 and all previous models.

If anyone has an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6S, they can continue using WhatsApp by updating their software to iOS 9.

Also, WhatsApp users who have one of the affected mobile phones mentioned above are advised to backup their WhatsApp chats so that all-important messages and data will not be lost.

To do this, open the ‘chat’ you want to save and click on ‘Group Info.’

Then click ‘Export Chat,’ and you will be given the option to download ‘chat’ with the media.

One of WhatsApp’s latest features is ‘Disappearing Messages,’ which means your chat will be deleted after seven days.

It is a step to help keep the chat private.

However, the company said that the chat can be set to expire after seven days but you can save the entire chat.
