Following the incident, a ruling was made at the Magistrate’s court in Kajang today (1 December) and both the delivery rider and customer were fined RM800 each for causing a brawl in public.

The food delivery rider was identified as a 27-year-old named Jasmady Jasman and his customer was 33-year-old Saiful Shazni Hanif. According to the charges, both individuals were charged under Section 159 of the Penal Code for fighting near a security guardhouse at a condominium in Bandar Mahkota Cheras at 11.15 am on 25 November, as reported by BERNAMA.

Based on the facts of the case, Jasmady was trying to deliver food to his customer, Saiful Shazni but was stopped by the security guard of the condominium. Jasmady then contacted Saiful to come down and pick up the food from the guardhouse. Upset by this request, Saiful proceeded to slander and push Jasmady until a fight broke out.

Jasmady, who was unrepresented by a lawyer asked the court for a lighter charge on the grounds that he acted out of self-defence. The incident caused him multiple injuries and his motorcycle was left damaged as well.

Saiful, who was also unrepresented by a lawyer, similarly pleaded for a lighter sentence as he is the sole breadwinner of his family. Nonetheless, Muhammad Hairuliqram Hairuddin, the Deputy Public Prosecutor asked the court to impose an appropriate sentence so both men would be taught a lesson.

Is this ruling fair? Let us know what you think in the comments!
