Flash floods and heavy rain spells in Malaysia isn’t something that is out of the ordinary. With Monsoon season currently in play, it’s only getting worse as we speak.

Lately, Seremban has been the main subject to various flash floods and disasters, but that doesn’t mean other states are safe from other types of floods either. Just yesterday, the Penang State Department of Environment (JAS Pulau Pinang) announced that they have just begun investigations alongside ADUN Penanti YB Dr Hajjah Norlela binti Ariffin into the recent mud flood faced by the residents at Kampung Padang Tembusu Guar Perahu.

“Initial investigation suggests that the mud flood was caused by surface runoff from housing activities and asphalt premix plant activities located near the area,” they write.

JAS Pulau Pinang will also be conducting investigations into earthquake complaints allegedly caused by quarry blasting activities near Kampung Pelet Penanti.

“JAS Pulau Pinang is taking this situation seriously. All complaints will be dealt with holistically and solutions will be integrated by the agencies related to their respective jurisdictions in order to prevent any similar issues from arising in the future.”

If you live in an area that has been affected by flash floods, hang in there and stay safe!
