In the online world, most Malaysians have cultivated a bad habit of criticising other people while hiding behind their screens. And Malaysian celebrity chef Redzuawan Ismail, or better known as Chef Wan, has just about enough of these keyboard warriors.

He recently wrote a long post on his Instagram account detailing the toxic attitude of Malaysian netizens today.

He said,

“My Facebook friend posted this beautiful tudung apparently costing RM21,600.00 purchased by someone in Kelantan and mentioned how hebat this woman is.”

“So I was reading all the comments and realised all this unnecessary comments such as ‘it’s not good to waste la‘, ‘it is better to help the poor’ and more negative comments like that.”

“This shows the envious attitude of some of these humans.

“How would they know if the rich didn’t donate part of their wealth to help the poor? We think bad things, and for what?

“Their money, their belongings, it is up to them to buy whatever.

“Even if we feel like talking bad about them, just keep the opinion to yourself. No need to make such comments to put her down, or even suggest this and that as though we are so smart.”

“We’ve created a society on social media that likes to curse and talk bad about other people.

“These days it is difficult for us to show off on social media because there will be people who are unsatisfied. (Read: Triggered)

“My question is, why can’t we be happy for her success and be inspired instead of cursing and talking bad as though what she did is not correct.”

“If she wants to sow crystals or gems on her tudung then its up to her lah. Instead, that post became a platform for other women to put her down.”

“This behaviour is no good.”

“People often forget that making such negative comments without thinking is also a true reflection of yourselves and your attitude.”

“Just be happy for them lah.”

“Also, as I have always suggested, if we don’t have something nice coming out of our mouths, we are better off not saying anything at all.”

“You might not talk smack in real life but you are doing it on social media where the whole world is listening, watching at times also, tempted to say something.”

“Whatever wrong comes out from our mouths will definitely become an argument.”

“Even when I make such a remark today, there will definitely be those who are angry and would curse at me.”

“But it doesn’t matter as long as I am speaking the truth that we should always be happy for other people’s success.”

So guys, stop being toxic and criticise just about everything other people do. Just a few weeks ago, a girl received a lot of negative comments because she created Nasi Lemak flavoured ice cream.
