It’s like some people just want to get into trouble.

Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has made it very clear that installing the Jalur Gemilang upside down will not be tolerated by the authorities. His statement came after they found multiple people repeating last year’s mistake of flying the national flag upside down.

As according to Bernama, they have arrested yet another person, this time a 55-year-old local woman, for allegedly flying the Jalur Gemilang upside down at her premises in Jalan Lee Ah Leng, Kluang.

She was arrested following a police report made on the same day.

“The results of the investigation found that this premise was running a restaurant business since 2017 until the end of December 2019 and closed down in January. It was also found that the flag has been flown upside down at the premises since 2017 until complaints were made by the public,” said Datuk Ayob.

He believes that reports are only coming in now regarding the woman as the public’s level of awareness has been increasing lately.

The woman is currently being charged under Section 5 of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act and if she is found guilty, she can be fined not more than RM20,000 or jailed for not more than three years or both.

Datuk Ayob also shared that the people should always maintain the sovereignty and peace of the country, or stern action will be taken in accordance with the law.

After all, it’s common knowledge that it’s against the law to fly the national flag (and state flags, of course) upside down, hence, the most we can do is urge the general public to stop installing the Jalur Gemilang upside down.

If you’re unhappy with anything in regards to the country, try to take positive actions to improve the situation instead.

Stay tuned for more updates.
