Individuals who enter Malaysia are required to quarantine themselves at home for two weeks and are given Home Monitoring Instructions (HSO) to abide by. They are also given a pink plastic wrist band that they have to wear that indicates they are a patient-under-surveillance (PSU).

However, there are some who are failing to obey this rule as some are seen eating in restaurants while others have taken the band off completely.

In a recent case, the Perak state Health Department are investigating a viral message claiming that a patient-under-surveillance (PUS) for Covid-19 was seen having a meal at a shop, reported Astro Awani.

The woman from Meru Heights and wearing a pink tag on her wrist was seen eating and drinking at a cafe in Bandar Meru Raya. Her actions are said to have raised concerns among the public, especially those living in the area.

Perak Health Director, Datuk Dr Ding Lay Ming said, his party took note of the picture and has immediately taken action to investigate the complaint.

“If indeed we find that the viral message is true, then necessary legal action will be taken against the culprit,” she said.

Meanwhile, another photo on Facebook shows a pink wrist band on the ground showing the date 20 July 2020. This means that the owner of the band had taken it off immediately after getting it.

These individuals who are refusing to comply with the home quarantine orders are risking the health of everyone they come into contact with when they choose to go out of their homes before the two weeks is up.

With new clusters being detected in the country, these individuals certainly are not helping in keeping the virus at bay.
