It is disheartening to find out that there are individuals out there trying to make easy money by taking advantage of the current issues faced by everyone globally. These irresponsible individuals don’t even consider the damage that will occur because of their greed. PDRM recently arrested two Bangladeshi workers in a raid in Jalan Alor who were selling fake Covid-19 screening results.

The arrest was made at 5.40 pm while the two were manning the counter, selling fake Covid-19 test results for only RM50 to other foreign workers. Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim explained, as reported by Malay Mail,

“The counters set up at the sidewalk in front of shops on Jalan Alor have been operating for one to two weeks, with each Covid-19 screening test result document being sold for RM50. The police found that the rental for the site is RM600 per month and (the counters) operate daily from noon to 9 pm, where a caretaker will be placed at the counter to operate a laptop while dealing with clients.”

It was also discovered that the two workers were being paid about RM1700 per month and the business is owned by a Malaysian. Hopefully, the police can get to the bottom of this and capture the mastermind behind this heinous syndicate as it poses a huge risk in the spread of Covid-19 in Malaysia!
