In some of the most heartwarming scenes to emerge onto social media recently, a 71-year-old nasi lemak vendor who runs her business out of her own food truck was finally awarded a temporary business license that would allow her to operate legally.

Che Nah, or more fondly known as Minah Awang, was finally granted a temporary business license to operate her food truck after a three decade long wait. The memorable occasion was marked by a truly special visit by the Minister of Federal Territories, Tan Sri Annuar Musa himself, who hand delivered the license to her.

Caught up in emotion in knowing that she can now operate legally, Che Nah was seen on video thanking the Minister, before kneeling down in gratitude.

Che Nah, who runs her food truck from a parking lot, has been awaiting for this license to be awarded to her and has tried repeatedly to obtain it from the Kuala Lumpur City Council.

Every day, she says she fears about operating her business illegally without a proper license in hand, reports China Press.

In the many years of running her business, her food truck has been towed away as many as 10 times, and has received numerous fines as a result of operating without a license. However, she remains determined to be self-reliant.

“I enjoy running my own business very much. I don’t want to rely on my children.” she said.

And now, with the help of Tan Sri Annuar Musa and the Kuala Lumpur City Council, Minah Awang will no longer have to fear about keeping her business running!

According to the Minister himself, he said that given the circumstances at hand, this is not a time to penalise small enterprises like Minah Awang’s, but instead, the government should find ways to empower them.

To Minah Awang, we wish you all the success and health in the world in keeping your business going!
