Ministry Offers Jobs For Unemployed Youths At KL Wholesale Market With Salary Of RM2,400

The largest wholesale market in the country, Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur recorded two Covid-19 positive cases on the 2nd of April and previously the foreigners who worked there are not allowed to work there anymore.

Following this, the Federal Territory Ministry plans to offer the job opportunities there for youths who are unemployed with a salary of RM2,400.

Hundreds of foreign workers were detained in a major raid of the area on the 11th of May and the market has been under total lockdown. Federal Territory Minister, Tan Sri Annuar Musa said in a Facebook live yesterday that workers are needed there ever since the arrest of the foreign workers.

“We are thinking of bringing our youth to work in new ways, in a better environment where living and transportation needs will be set, especially when the wholesale market has been renovated completely.”

He added that previously, the homeless community were offered RM1,400 to RM1,600 to work in the manufacturing sector and now many youths have come forward after losing their jobs due to the Movement Control Order.

Bernama reported that the ministry has identified a few spots in Kuala Lumpur to build cafeterias, gazebos, small shops as well as a bus stops and LRT stations to provide young people with business opportunities.

“The ministry also plans to offer ‘rent and buy’ schemes for the B40 below 35 years old to own their first homes,” he said.

This scheme is where 1,000 unit of three-bedroom houses will be offered to the youths with a monthly rent of RM800 to RM850 while they wait for the construction of affordable homes priced at RM200,000 and below to finish.
