Rodents are one of the most annoying pest in the food industry next to cockroaches.

Recently, a picture of a gigantic rat sitting on top of some sausages and fish balls in 7-Eleven’s food warmer went viral, The Star Reported.

Apparently this appalling scene took place on January 2, 2017 at the 7-Eleven branch located in Kelana Centre Point, Kelana Jaya.

Multiple Facebook users have personally shared the pictures and netizens are extremely upset about this outrageous incident.

One netizen echoed the concerns of people from all around.

Rats urine cause death to human beings, what will happen people who consume these unhealthy food? Oh god.

Meanwhile, other netizens called for this outlet to be closed down.

“Must close down!”

“EWW! Seriously, how the heck did it even get INSIDE???”

After hearing of this incident, 7-Eleven Malaysia quickly responded to this rodent issue on their Facebook. They assured that this is a one-time only case:

“We would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”

“We have immediately conducted our own internal investigations as well as cooperated with the Health Ministry office for the district of Petaling on the matter.”

“Please be assured, this is an isolated incident as we have certified quality assurance audits and regular pest control steps in place to prevent such occurrences.”

“We would like to reiterate that 7-Eleven Malaysia ensures that all of our food products are of the highest quality and produced hygienically in an approved and audited facility(s).”

“The safety and well-being of our customers are of the utmost importance to us.”

In the end, it is best to always be careful of the food we are consuming. This isn’t the first time rats have been found in food.

Last year, there was a case of a rat crawling around a well-known bakery, and another case of rats that made a nest inside a chili tank in a supermarket.
