According to Sinar Harian, the government is working hand in hand with Malaysia’s Civil Defence Force (APM) to distribute the 24.62 million face masks to the people nationwide, for free.

The Senior Minister explained that the task of sending the face masks to the respective State Security Councils will be coordinated by the APM. Once the masks have reached APM, it will then be distributed to the districts via district disaster management committees.

“From there, it will be distributed from house to house by district frontliners,” he said, reported Berita Awani. As for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, the face masks will be sent over by a special Royal Malaysian Air Force flight this Friday (10 April), before they are distributed.

He also urged those with COVID-19 symptoms such as cough and fever to wear the face masks as advised by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

This initiative was taken by the government after people expressed difficulties in obtaining face masks due to high market demand.
