However, this year, things are a little different as countries worldwide have been hit with the Covid-19 pandemic. We are currently on Day 15 of the Movement Control Order and the possibility of having Ramadan bazaars seem a little bleak.

The Health Director-General has said that if Ramadan bazaars are to be implemented then proper crowd control measures need to be taken, reported The Star. The crowd control measures mentioned are contact distancing procedures and hygiene practices.

“It is important to practise safe distancing and take all precautions as well as good hygiene. Control is important at crowded places.”

He says that they will need to look at the implementation of these procedures and as long as the bazaar-goers and bazaar-sellers adhere to the SOPs given, then it will be alright.

Yet, according to The Star, Malaysians have taken onto social media to say that Ramadan bazaars should be cancelled this year to avoid a third wave of Covid-19. Some users have said that if a Ramadan bazaar is held then the 28-day MCO will be wasted.

“I cannot imagine how bazaar-goers will socially distance themselves.”

What do you think about this? Do you think Ramadan bazaars should be held this year or cancelled? Tell us in the comments!
