It’s Day Eight of the Movement Control Order and it’s just been announced that the MCO will be extended for two more weeks! Although it may seem frustrating, we have to remember that this move is extremely essential to flatten the curve. During these trying times, we have to remember the sacrifices made by our healthcare professionals. Yet some people, think it’s okay to disrespect and even STEAL from hospitals despite knowing they need it the most.

A nurse posted to the group Cempedak Cheese on how hand sanitisers were stolen from the hospital even after being tied with cable ties!

She also described how angry and disappointed she was as people are supposed to know how important these sanitisers are to hospitals. The nurse detailed that hospitals are now practising 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene where sanitisers are applied when they’re moving from bed to bed to reduce the risks of infection.

She added that she understands how everyone is paranoid regarding the outbreak but this isn’t the way to go. We still have the option of washing our hands but doctors who have to visit 30 patients in one go don’t have the same the time to do so.

“Help us help you.By stealing sanitisers, you’re not helping yourselves but instead you’re helping the viruses and bacteria!”

She ended her rant by saying no matter if you’re a patient, visitor or even hospital staff, the government’s property is not yours to take.

To those selfish enough to steal sanitisers from hospitals, you should be ashamed of yourselves. At this point, our healthcare professionals are the biggest asset to the country and this is no way to treat them. We can do better Malaysians!
