I’m sure everyone is tired of hearing this already but there really is no shortcut to success, no matter what, to achieve what you want all you need to do is work hard. Any obstacle which comes your way needs to be faced head-on. This Ipoh boy is a prime example of never letting anything get in the way of your success.

Oscar Wong Kinn Lap, 18, is a physically-impaired student from SMK Methodist (ACS) who overcame this obstacle and successfully scored 10As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM). Oscar told New Straits Times that his disability wasn’t an obstacle for him to excel and his family, teachers and friends were his motivators behind his SPM results.

Wong added that the subject that he got surprised with was Additional Mathematics as he expected to score just a pass but to his delight, he got an A+ instead.

“I am pleased with the results. All the hard work and sacrifice has paid off. My mother always told me to be patient, as there are many people with disabilities but they have gone on to be successful.”

When asked what was the secret behind his results, Oscar simply said he consistently put in three hours of revision daily and also paid full attention in class. He intends to further his studies in the cybersecurity field because he loves technology and he hopes that his dreams will come true so that he can help his parents in the future.

Oscar serves as an inspiration to all of us of what it takes to achieve success. Congratulation to Oscar on his results and here’s wishing him good luck for his future!
