A Filipino couple decided to carry on with their wedding despite a volcano erruption happening just 20km away from their wedding location.

According to CNA, it was about 2pm on 12th January when the wedding photographer, Randolf Evan was taking photos of the preparations at Savanna Farm by Solange in the town of Alfonso, Cavite, where couple Chino Vaflor and Kat Palomar were set to get married.

They then started noticing unusual activity from the Taal Volcano but decided to push through the wedding.

“We pushed through, thinking it might not escalate, but made sure to monitor what was happening via social media,” Randolf said.

After having discussions among the team on what to do if anything dangerous happens, the ceremony proceeded as planned.

Randolf shared one of the photos on Facebook where thick clouds of ask can be seen in the background as the couple smiled at each other. Another photo shows their wedding reception in full swing while lightning flashed in the sky.

Randolf said that he thought they were gonna be “safe” from any volcanic activity as Savanna Farm was located on elevated ground, however, the reception had to be put to a halt when the ash fall became “heavier and mud-like”.

Still, Ms Palomar and Mr Vaflor managed to exchange their vows, have their first dance and give their speeches.

The couple had with them their family and close friends, all of which stayed until the end.

“Their wedding was eight years and two kids in the making, so we understood how special this day must have been,” Randolf said.

“It was a truly memorable wedding for us.”

This certainly is a wedding to remember. Thankfully everyone was safe during the eruption and I must say those photos look amazing!
