This is huge news!

Form 4 students no longer will be separated into science and art streams starting next year in 2020, according to Teo Nie Ching, our Deputy Minister of Education.

Instead, the students will pick subjects they are interested in. Sounds like we’re progressing people! 😀

“The students can choose the subjects based on their interest and passion. The schools will then arrange these classes based on the subjects chosen by the students,” she said to SinChew Daily.

She adds that the school’s counselor will play an important role in helping fellow students choose the classes they should go for. Based on the students’ PT3 results, the school will also have an overall idea on what subject each of them should preferably go for.

The efforts to abolish the science and arts stream came from the government to further improve Malaysia’s school system.

I don’t know about you but this change is amazing! Instead of the segregation where most schools would put “high-scoring students” into the Science stream while “lower performing” students into Arts stream, the focus on subjects the students are more interested in will prove to be much effective!
