I hope y’all are wearing your surgical masks because the haze is pretty bad, especially in KL.

Malaysia is experiencing haze because of the forest fires in Kalimantan; in fact, Kuala Lumpur was crowned as the most polluted cities in the world on 11th September 2019 by AirVisual because of our bad air quality. FYI, AirVisual is a Switzerland-based pollution mapping service.

According to The Star, KL is ranked above Jakarta, Riyadh, Lahore, and Delhi with an API reading of 165. The reading signifies that the air quality in KL is “unhealthy”. A quick check on the APIMS (Air Pollution Index of Malaysia) website shows that the API readings for certain parts of Malaysia, including KL is pretty bad.

Here’s a screenshot of the API reading in certain parts of Wilayah Persekutuan, Wilayah Putrajaya and Selangor which shows that the air quality in some areas is “unhealthy”:

It’s getting worse as days pass by!

The haze has gotten so bad that the whole city of KL is becoming very foggy. Following that, netizens on Twitter are starting to share pictures of barely visible buildings in KL. You can check out some of the pictures that were shared by our fellow Malaysians below:

Therefore, since the haze isn’t going anywhere soon, don’t forget to wear your surgical masks and drink a lot of water during this “season”. Also, please try to stay indoors as much as possible and avoid outdoor activities.

On that note, you can visit the APIMS website for constant updates and announcement regarding the haze. Stay safe, guys!
