If you are interested in owning a pet, please don’t buy them from the pet store as you don’t know what these furry animals had to go through before they arrived at the shop.

On 21 August, two Singaporean men were apprehended and are now under investigation after trying to smuggle three kittens into the country. The poor kittens were found hidden under the carpet of the front passenger seat.

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority wrote that the kittens were wrapped in black cloth and showed signs of drugging. It was revealed that the smugglers injected them with sedatives so that they would not cause a commotion during the smuggling attempt.

Poor kittehs!

The two men, a 21-year-old driver and a 20-year-old passenger, have been remanded and the kittens have been quarantined and taken care of before they are given a home.

Smuggled animals could carry diseases to the island of Singapore, and because of the inhumane way they are snuck in, the animal suffers and could die along the way.

Whether you are in Singapore, Malaysia or anywhere in the world, please consider adopting your next animal companion instead of purchasing them at the store. As we all know, when the buying stops, the cruelty stops too.
