This is just cruel!

A 49-year-old fishmonger who accused his adopted daughter of stealing money was arrested for torturing her with a hot metal spoon, wrote NST. Oh dear!

District police chief Asst Comm Ismadi Borhan revealed that the police had arrested the suspect in Bandar Kinrara 5 on 10th June 2019. In a statement which was released on 11th June 2019, he was quoted by The Star as saying,

“Checks at the house along Jalan Pinggiran Putra also led to the discovery of the spoon used to abuse the victim. The suspect confessed to the act and will be remanded today.”

Apparently, the poor girl was physically abused by her adopted father at 6pm on 30th May 2019 because he believed that she had stolen some money.

The seven-year-old girl reportedly had burns on “both sides of the cheek, hands, right waist and left leg” which came from the hot metal spoon used to abuse her.

Following that, the suspect fled the scene after he gave the young child some oil to rub on the burns. At the time of writing, ACP Ismadi has said that the victim is receiving treatment at the Serdang Hospital and her nine-year-old sibling will also be sent there to check for abuse bruises.

FYI, the victim’s adoptive mother, 25, was in India when this tragic incident happened, and she lodged a police report after she returned on 2nd June 2019. Brave mother!

We hope that the authorities will look into this matter and prosecute the adoptive father accordingly if he is found guilty by the court.
