While Malaysia is a diverse country with several races and cultures living together, it is also an international melting pot where many foreigners come to take refuge. Many of these foreigners make Malaysia their home by legal means, however, there are also those who are living in this country illegally without proper documentation.

Such is the case of Africans living illegally in Malaysia, who have been deemed as a public concern. Due to this classification, it has been decided that action will be taken against them. The Selangor police will soon conduct a massive operation to flush out illegal Africans, especially Nigerians, from the country.

According to The Star, these operations will be carried out in areas heavily saturated by foreigners, said Selangor police chief Datuk Noor Azam Jamaludin.

“We believe there are Africans who have complete documents. If they have the documents then we will release them, but those who violate the terms of the visit or student pass or with expired documents, then we will take action,” he said at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters (IPD).

He said this to reporters at a ceremony held there for the handing-over of duties between outgoing Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Hamzah Alias and incoming district chief ACP Noor Azmi Yusoff.

Answering to questions about whether foreigners were involved with criminal cases like the African Scam and Macau Scam, Noor Azam said,

“It does exist. That is undeniable. But we consider all the same … those who do wrong, we will take action accordingly.”

On 24th May, the police detained 15 foreigners, most of whom came from African countries, in an operation led by the Immigration Department in Taman Alam Jaya, Batu 9, Cheras.

This operation was targeted at illegal immigrants from African countries, according to The Star. Enforcement officers managed to detain ten Nigerian men, three women from Uganda, Nigeria and Thailand respectively, and two Thai children.

Immigration director-general Datuk Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the arrests were successfully carried out due to the cooperation from the police and the local council.

Well, it’s good that the authorities are doing something about people and actions that go against the law.
