It’s the second day of the year and the official smoking ban at open-air eateries! Some of us may be ecstatic about this decision, while some aren’t, especially smokers.

However, Malaysians being Malaysians, some people have come up with creative ways to adapt to this new rule and have shared their methods across social media platforms for all of us to see.

Apart from bringing a measuring tape along with them to measure the three-meter distance at restaurants, some have even grabbed chairs (and even tables) to sit as far as they can just to smoke!

Here are a few tweets that might make you giggle from the ridiculousness of it all:

Can confirm lah it’s three meters!

Just chillin’ across the road.

How did he even think of this?!

You take our smoking rights? We take your tables!

I guess that’s one way to secretly smoke.

That’s surely more than 3 meters away. So thoughtful!

Perlis is that small, huh?

In a way, kudos to them for actually making an effort to obey the new rule!

If you see anyone disregarding the smoking ban and still puffing away within three meters from the restaurant, you can simply lodge a complaint by dialling 03-8892 4530.

What are your thoughts about the smoking ban? Are smokers adapting to it or ignoring it? Tell us in the comments below!
