Landslides are dangerous and can even be lethal, just like this incident that happened in Malaysia today.

On the afternoon of 19 October, three people were reportedly killed while 12 others are still missing following a landslide that hit four containers used to house workers at a construction site. This incident happened at Jalan Bukit Kukus in Paya Terubong, Penang at 1.56pm.

According to The Star, the first body (out of the three) was recovered at 3.40pm. A WhatsApp message from the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said,

“Initial information shows that 10 people could have been buried alive. The landslide covers an area estimated to be 500 ft by 200 ft.”

An Indonesian construction worker, Endo, 36, said three of his family members from Sulawesi were trapped.

“Three of them, in their 30s, were inside, and I found out that one of them was trapped in a container.”

“I pray for their safety,” he said.

It has been raining quite frequently since Thursday (18 Oct), therefore the area is extremely muddy.

We hope the rest of the victims are found safe and may the souls of the deceased rest in peace.
