The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has been especially busy lately as they need to investigate the many cases of corruption that have been surfacing after GE14. The biggest of them all is none other than the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, which is finally being properly investigated and ever since, shocking new discoveries, raids and questionings have been carried out. It has more twists and turns than a blockbuster movie!

In the latest development of the 1MDB saga, MACC has apparently conducted a raid on an apartment unit that reportedly belongs to everyone’s “favourite” fugitive businessman, Low Taek Jho. The Star reports that the luxury serviced apartment unit located in Jalan Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur was raided yesterday (June 27) after MACC operated on a tip-off by someone.

When more than 10 MACC officers arrived at the unit, it looked unoccupied and they had to break in the main door. The search warrant they obtained also allowed them to arrest anyone found on the premises to facilitate investigations but there was no one there.

According to FMT, the unit has a small home office on the premises with some office equipment. Photos circulating online alleged that MACC officers found a certain amount of cash inside a safe in the apartment and a paper shredder machine. There was no mention of any other significant items found in the unit. It was reported that the median price for an apartment unit there cost RM3 million.

Low and four other people are still wanted by MACC for questioning over the 1MDB scandal but so far, Low has not made an appearance yet.

Let’s hope the MACC will make a great breakthrough in the case really soon!
