Ever since Pakatan Harapan took over the federal government in GE14, it has given harapan (hope) to fellow Malaysians, and this particular rakyat has decided to come home and serve the country.

A Malaysian named Nick has recently warmed thousands of netizens’ hearts when his letter of resignation went viral on Facebook. It was understood that prior to GE14, he worked in Singapore earning Singapore Dollars, like thousands (if not millions) of other Malaysians.

Here’s what Nick wrote in his resignation letter.

“I am writing to provide you with my formal notice of resignation of the company.

“The reason of my resignation is that my beloved country Malaysia had just UBAH (changed). I believe there is much opportunity for me to go back to my country to serve the people there. Even if I am just going to sell chicken rice, I can still pay tax to the new government.

“This was not an easy decision to make, and I appreciate your support over the course of my employment at XXX. I truly value the experience, training and knowledge I’ve gained here. It has been a pleasure working with you and the team.

“Please let me know how I can help during this transition. I wish you all the best as the company continues to grow.”

Here’s the original resignation letter he wrote on 10 May 2018.

Netizens were surprised by Nick’s courage and patriotism as not everyone would be willing to let go of a job with a lucrative salary due to the favourable currency exchange rate.

“The former opposition has sacrificed so much to dethrone BN, now it’s our time to go back and serve our country. Good job, Nick!” a Facebook user said.

We salute Nick for his willingness to sacrifice earning Singapore Dollars. On the bright side, he doesn’t have to brave through the jam every morning to cross the bridge!
