Of all the mishaps that could have taken place on Polling Day, no one expected a fire outbreak to be one of them!

At approximately 12.30pm, a fire broke out at the SK Jalan u3, Subang Perdana polling station, resulting in the closure of one of the polling streams.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, it is believed that the cause of the fire was a short circuit in the school’s wiring. Thankfully, no one was harmed and the situation was brought under control with the fire quickly extinguished.

An eyewitness on the scene of the fire reportedly heard an explosion before the fire broke out.

This however, has not deterred the operations of the polling stream. Temporary lights have been brought in for voters in polling stream one so as not to slow down the traffic of voters. Even in darkness Malaysians push forward to cast their ballots!

Other Malaysians on the scene were calm in light of the outbreak and all polling stream operations are carrying on as usual. Firemen and rescuers remain on the scene as an extra precaution to ensure the safety of the school and voters.
