Flying is already a stressful experience for a number of us, and incidents like this certainly don’t help with the paranoia for those who get nervous about flying!

According to Channel NewsAsia, a 41-year-old man was arrested after allegedly making a false bomb threat while on board a Scoot flight from Singapore to Hat Yai, Thailand.

The incident, which occurred yesterday (5th April), transpired when the male passenger told a cabin crew member that there was a bomb in his carry-on luggage.

Shortly after that, the Singapore air force was contacted and within minutes, two fighter jets flew alongside the commercial flight and escorted it along with all 173 of its passengers and 6 crew members safely back to Singapore.

The male passenger has since been arrested under the United Nations anti-terrorism regulations and could face a fine of up to SGD$500,000 (approx. RM1.5 million) and/or 10 years in jail if found guilty.

Well, thankfully it turned out to be a hoax! Let’s hope the relevant authorities deal with this case appropriately to make sure something like this never happens again.
