A 72-year-old woman from Raub was fined RM5,000 for taking off her pink bracelet and going to the clinic yesterday (6 May).

According to Raub District Police Chief, Superintendent Kama Azural Mohamed, the woman who lives in Kampung Sungai Ruan was undergoing quarantine when she took off her Covid-19 pink bracelet to get medicine from the clinic, reported Harian Metro.

“The information was obtained from the Raub District Health Office (PKD) after discovering that the woman was not at home. He was about to inform the senior citizen that she was positive for Covid-19.”

“When the police arrived at the woman’s house, they were informed she had been out of the clinic by the occupants of the house. Upon arrival at the clinic, the senior citizen admitted to having removed the pink bracelet she was wearing and left it at home,” he said, according to Sinar Harian.

He added that that the woman was fined RM5,000 under Section 22(b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021 for failing to quarantine at home while wearing a pink bracelet.

“This situation is very unfortunate, it is appropriate for these adults and senior citizens to set a good example to the young ones so that they do not break the rules,” he said.

“Failure to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) has made the spread of this epidemic more frightening and will be difficult to curb.”

Just yesterday, a 73-year-old man, also from Raub, was fined RM5,000 for going out of his home to enjoy the cool air.
