A 70-year-old man from Limbang, Sarawak, was found on Sunday afternoon (7 December) after more than 24 hours of being reported missing from his durian orchard the day before.

A search and rescue effort was launched involving the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the local fire brigade, the Limbang Civil Defence Force (APM) and villagers of the area.

A 70-year-old Malaysian man went missing for over 24 hours after following a ‘beautiful woman’ into the jungle in Limbang

When he was finally found, he claimed to have followed a ‘beautiful woman’ before reportedly getting lost more than 10km from his orchard.

According to a report by Berita RTM Sarawak, the Limbang District Police Chief, Superintendent Parum Niot, shared that the elderly man was found in a weak condition at 3:30 PM.

His disappearance was linked to mystical elements due to his claim that the ‘beautiful woman’ had accompanied him while he was cutting down a durian tree, and he subsequently followed her deep into the jungle.

He was found in a weak state by the roadside

He was later found by villagers at a hut by the roadside, after he had managed to get out of the jungle to the side of the road, not far from where he was reported missing.

“Based on the victim’s statement, he followed the beautiful woman until he got lost in the jungle, before being found in a weak condition. But, he was still able to walk this evening,” Superintendent Parum Niot said.
