6 Malaysian men were charged at the Muar Sessions Court for sexually assaulting an underage girl. All suspects were in their early 20’s, and two of them were scheduled to get engaged this Saturday (December 28).
The men took their turns to sexually assault the victim at Tangkak, Johor, in 2019, and all suspects pleaded NOT guilty when the charges were read to them in court.
According to the charges, they are accused of committing physical sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl during an incident at a house in Tangkak between 1.30 AM and 2 AM on January 20, 2019.
They were charged under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOCCA) 2017, in which, if found guilty, the suspects could face up to 20 years of imprisonment and whipping.
According to reports by Kosmo and Buletin TV3, the victim visited the house of one of his male friends before resting in a room upstairs. At that time, there were 9 men in the house, and everyone sexually assaulted the victim.
The traumatised victim then screamed and cried, which was heard by the neighbour, who called the police. The authorities then arrested all men to aid in the investigation.
The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutors Danial Munir and Diyana Najihah Muhamed Fauzi, while all the accused were not represented by lawyers.
All suspects were released on RM10,000 bail, and they are required to report themselves at the police station once every month. They are also not allowed to disturb the victim at this time.
