According to a press release on Honda Malaysia’s website, the product recall is due to flawed battery sensor failure and a defective door mirror component. The battery sensor’s flaw happened during the production process as the printed circuit board (PCB) was inaccurately formed. The models affected are 20,233 units of Accord (2013 – 2016 Year Model).

You should really get that checked out as the statement says, “This may cause electrical short circuit of the sensor, and possibilities of smoke coming from the hood or, in the worst case, a fire.” You don’t want that to happen!

Meanwhile, 27,912 units of Accord (2013-2016 Year Model) and 971 units of Odyssey (2014-2017 Year Model) have been recalled because of the defective door mirror component. Honda Malaysia said, “The defective door mirror component is due to inconsistent surface treatment of the movable contact area inside the door mirror retracting switch, which may cause the affected door mirror to retract during driving or parking.”

Don’t worry if you are affected because Honda Malaysia said that currently, there has been no incidence of any fire, crash or injury but they are taking preemptive measures. They also assured that other current selling models are not affected. They urged the car owners to contact them for replacement and said that they have 50 per cent stock availability for both the battery sensor and the defective door mirror component.
