A 29-year-old man died on Sunday (December 8), after he had slit his throat in front of his girlfriend at a hotel in Sibu, Sarawak, at around 3pm.

According to a report by See Hua Daily News, it all started when the deceased had contacted his girlfriend on Sunday morning to meet up and they agreed to book a hotel room in the afternoon to discuss some matters.

The deceased had arrived at the hotel at 2pm and booked a room. His girlfriend arrived just before 3pm and they started their discussions in the room.

It turns out that, despite having dated for years, the girlfriend proposed that they break up as her parents did not approve of their relationship.

Unable to fathom the breakup, the deceased threatened to kill himself should his girlfriend not accept him.

He then suddenly took out a small knife and slit his throat in front of his girlfriend. It is unknown as to whether the knife belonged to the hotel or if the deceased had it with him.

Having failed to stop the deceased’s actions, the girlfriend rushed out of the room to seek help from the hotel lobby.

The hotel staff immediately called the police but when the authorities arrived, it was too late.

The deceased was said to have already died in a pool of blood due to excessive blood loss when the police and medical staff reached the scene.

A police report was made and the body of the deceased was taken to a hospital to be autopsied to determine the cause of death.

The deceased has a history of self-harm

It was also revealed that the deceased had previously self-harmed multiple times due to emotional problems and would send photos of his self-harm to his girlfriend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones of the deceased.
