He had a misunderstanding with his wife

In the video, the man can be seen pressing a knife against his neck while shouting uncontrollably, as a witness records the scene.

Johor Bahru South District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, said the incident happened on March 18 at around 12:25 AM when a Danga Bay police officer spotted the suicide attempt and alerted authorities.

Investigations later revealed that the victim, a 27-year-old local man, had used a cleaver to harm himself due to emotional distress after a misunderstanding with his wife.

Raub added that the victim is currently in critical condition and receiving treatment in the ICU at Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

Police urge the public not to share the video to prevent speculation and misunderstandings. They also remind people to resolve conflicts peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact their nearest police station or call the hotline at 07-2182323.
