A 27-year-old Malaysian man passed away after he reportedly suffered breathing difficulties while participating in a cycling event on the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) on Sunday (August 10).
According to a report by Malaysia Gazette, the Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, confirmed this incident while informing that his department had received a report about it at around 2pm from Ampang Hospital.
Initial investigations found that the victim was participating in a 50km cycling event and suffered from shortness of breath while passing by kilometre 13 of the highway.

“The victim is believed to have collapsed onto the road and was unconscious. Initial treatment was given at the scene before he was taken to Ampang Hospital. However, the victim was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital,” he said.
His department is currently waiting on the autopsy report to determine the exact cause of the man’s death. This case is currently being classified as sudden death.
The police have since advised the public to ensure that they are in good health before participating in any sporting activity to avoid the risk of injury or other complications.
