2 Men Steal RM452k Diamond Ring From Pawn Shop In SG, Flees To M’sia & Gets Caught In KLIA

If you have been on the Internet long enough, you would have seen CCTV footage where a couple of thieves who work together to steal items of value such as jewellery.

At about 6.30pm on 16 July, a 48-year-old man had allegedly taken a diamond ring worth more than $132,000 (RM452,000). According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the man then fled from the pawnshop when the staff was attending to the man’s request to buy another diamond ring.

It is said that the man had a 58-year-old accomplice and with the help of images from police cameras and CCTV footage, they were able to establish the duo’s identities.

However, both of them left Singapore and entered Malaysia within an hour after the police were alerted of the incident.

As the SPF knows that the duo had gone into Malaysia, they employed the help of PDRM to look for the thieves. They were arrested at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 19 July 2023 and handed over to the Singapore Police Force on 20 July 2023.

According to Channel News Asia, revealed that the duo was comprised of Chinese nationals, Lu Jingnan, 48, and He Yuanlin, 59 and they had stolen a 3-carat diamond ring. They were charged on 21 July with theft and if convicted, they may face up to 7 years in jail and a fine.
