19yo Teenager Who Allegedly Killed Her Friend in Terengganu Charged With Murder

The teenager was said to have killed her friend, Siti Nur Surya Ismail, earlier this month has been charged with murder at the Magistrate’s Court today (16 November).

19-year-old Siti Nur Athirah Azmi did not show any emotion when the charges were read out to her before Magistrate Engku Nurul Ain Engku Muda, reported Bernama.

No confession was recorded after which the court set 10 January 2021 as the re-mention date of the case in the Kuala Berang Magistrate’s Court. No bail was offered to the accused as well.

The Form Six student was accused of killing Siti Nur Surya on 1 November between 8.30am and 9.30am at a house located in Kampung Lubuk Batu, Jalan Bukit Tadok, Telemong, Hulu Terengganu,

She was charged in accordance to Section 301 of the Penal Code which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Amer Abu Bakar Abdullah while the accused was represented by lawyer Mazlan Md Zain from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).
