Death is never easy and it’s a tough thing to come to terms with.
A young boy in Thailand was playing live music on Facebook streams just so he can crowdfund enough money for his father who had passed away recently.
Chanadej Khiewsen, 12 is an experienced street performer who has been singing and playing the guitar on the streets ever since he was 5 years old, reported The Nation.
Back then, he busked at the Chatuchak Weekend Market and Siam Square for his school expenses, however, during the past few months, he had moved to perform his music online as his father was ill with cancer. His father is a single father so both of them only have each other.
During that time, he crowdfunded for his father’s hospital bills but on 15 February, his sick father passed away.
Grief-stricken, the little boy went live on Facebook and explained that he needed to raise money for his father’s funeral.
“The day I don’t want to come has arrived. But Dad told me to live in the world of reality. I would like to do this for Dad for the last time. I’m performing a live concert for Dad. Today, I’m begging for Dad’s funeral. I don’t want to use this term at all.”
During the whole stream, he tried to keep a brave and cheerful face. At times, tears streamed down his little face when he was singing and talking.
The streams went viral and he was able to hold a simple ceremony with the money from the kind netizens. In his Facebook post, the young boy says that he is still processing his grieve.
“Thank you for your concerns, I’m sorry I haven’t been able to reply to messages and comments. I am still sad but I will continue fighting. Please give me some time as the best thing in my life was my father.”
This brought tears to our eyes and we hope that his would-be guardian will treat him well and nurture him into a great musician.
