The expectation for e-hailing rides really aren’t that extravagant. Merely used as a medium to usher a customer from one location to another, we normally don’t expect anything out of the ordinary to take place during these commutes. However, a Singaporean TikTok user recently got a little more than she expected, by receiving a free form of entertainment while waiting in her ride.

Sharing the moment to her TikTok account @poodsot, the girl in question, whose name is Misa, captured an instance where her Grab driver, while waiting at a red traffic light, pulled out a guitar and started to sing 1981 hit Shanghai Tai, a Cantonese song by Hong Kong singer Frances Yip.

Equipped with a capo and carefully playing the instrument with his fingers, the uncle continued to sing until the traffic light turned green to resume his driving duties.

At certain points, the man even manages to hit some impressive notes.

In the comments section, Misa stated that the uncle practices the song whenever he can so he won’t forget the lyrics, as he is getting older. He even proceeded to show Misa some photos of his grandchildren as they waited at the traffic light.

Warming hearts across the platform, multiple TikTok users were incredibly touched by the uncle’s musical skills, saying that he was indeed “jamming” during the “traffic jam”.

A concert with your ride? He ate I’m afraid,” complimented one user.

On the other hand, a few people also mentioned how nostalgic they felt after watching the clip, as it brought back memories from their youth, and of their older family members too.

“Thank you so much for sharing this. My late grandmother used to sing this song to me, and I thought I’d never hear it again,” penned a commenter.

Nevertheless, there were also numerous individuals who couldn’t help but make light-hearted jests at the situation, with a few people saying that they’d surely give a five-star review for the ride and tip the uncle generously.

“Money is hard to earn now, even Grab drivers have to perform,” jokingly added another user.
