All Maybank staff in Malaysia are now earning more than the minimum living wage of RM3,100 a month, based on the Belanjawanku guide by the EPF.

This move also follows the Finance Ministry’s push for GLCs to lead the way in offering fair pay through the ‘GLC Earnings for a Resilient and United People’ (GEAR-uP) initiative.

“We believe in looking after our employees”

Maybank Group President and CEO, Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli, said the move fits with the bank’s goal of being a values-driven organisation that puts people first and treats employees fairly, according to Berita Harian.

“We believe in looking after our employees, especially by paying fair and reasonable wages. It isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also good for business. Making sure everyone earns a competitive and sustainable income helps us build a strong, future-ready team,” he said.

The focus on employee welfare has also played a big part in boosting staff engagement. It was reported that Maybank’s Sustainable Engagement Index hit 92% in 2024, beating the global average for high-performing companies by 4%.

Maybank has been named Malaysia’s top preferred employer!

In 2024, Maybank was once again recognised as the Overall Winner of the Graduates’ Choice Award for the seventh year in a row, and named Malaysia’s Top Preferred Employer by the GRADUAN Brand Awards for the tenth straight year.

It highlights its ongoing commitment to building a safe, inclusive, and empowering workplace where employees are fully supported to grow and thrive in their careers.

It also offers a solid and well-rounded benefits package to take care of its employees’ overall well-being. This includes different types of leave (from childcare and parental care to sabbaticals and volunteering), including wide-ranging medical coverage for employees and their dependents, with no age limit for children with disabilities.
