Let’s be real, Malaysia is famed for our food, our food and our food. Psst, Singapore could never. So it’s only natural that a video by this American YouTuber who goes by the name of XiaomaNYC doing a taste test on our very own home-grown Maggi Kari on the streets of NYC is everyone’s latest viral obsession!
He said he got the inspiration to do this video after bumping into a couple of Malaysians in Chinatown who did not hesitate to recommend Maggi Kari to him. Whoever you are, you did a great job!
Out of the 11 people he interviewed, most of them thought that Maggi Kari really good, and a few of them even asked where he bought it! That said, 3 of them said that Maggi Kari was REALLYYY spicy. Lemah!
One of them even said that they would like to add in extra things like shrimp for example! Maggi Ala Malaysia, we approve. Xiaoma then explained that the Malaysian way is to add in shrimp, vege and eggs. Man did his research.
Xiaoma actually has a Malaysia video playlist where he asks strangers on the streets of NYC to try Malaysian food items. So far, he has done Milo, Ipoh white coffee and Bakwa (meat jerky)!
We would like to thank Xiaoma for showing his people the beauty of our food, we’re really proud as Malaysians and we would definitely like to see them sample stuff like cendol or satay, to give our food the deserved attention. Oh, and of course, more videos of Angmo trying durian are always appreciated.
