“United we stand, divided we fall.”

This saying accurately describes all families, but we think that it applies even better to this particular family who decided to all work together to shake the car while their mother fills in petrol. I mean, look at that perfect execution and timing.

this is how it is passed down frm one singaporean to another younger singaporean

This is not the first time that something like this has happened, in fact, it is so wide-spread in Singapore that they are calling it a “tradition”.

In a video that has gone viral on Facebook from the page Helloあsia Singapore on the 21st December, a family of 4 (3 adults and a child) was spotted at a petrol station shaking a car while one of them fills up petrol.

The post did not provide any further information but netizens said that this 18-second video was taken in a petrol station in Johor Bahru. What a great activity to do while bonding with your family during vacation!

So does shaking your car or tilting it while filling in petrol result in you getting more fuel? The answer is no. As the motion of pumping in petrol into the tank creates foam and vapour, shaking the car wouldn’t make it disperse faster. In return, waiting for it to disperse on its own will give you extra fuel space.

Hmm, so now we know! The family does seem to be a very united family and you know what they say, teamwork makes the dreamwork so you do you!
