Although there are many different ways to get around Malaysia, driving is undoubtedly one of the most popular, particularly for individuals who don’t have easy access to public transportation.
Nevertheless, Malaysia’s traffic is getting worse every day, and frequently, many drivers “illegally” use the emergency lane for their own convenience.
Emergency lanes are typically set aside for ambulances and malfunctioning vehicles. A fine would be issued to vehicles that “illegally” use the emergency lane.
Accordingly, PDRM posted a video on their Facebook page announcing that they would be employing a drone (a DJI Matrix 300 RTK) to keep an eye on the state of the roads.
The aforementioned drone has a staggering price tag of RM59,235, and it also requires an additional camera (ZenMuse), which costs RM11,000.
In order to “gather evidence” for PDRM, these drones frequently operated near the PLUS expressway. Users who are found “guilty” may be fined RM 300.
Utusan Borneo claims that during Hari Raya Haji in 2022, JPJ was able to issue 20,000 fine fines for drivers who had 128 GoPro Max360 cameras with them. More over 8,000 of the 20,000 fines are for speeding citations.
