Taking to TikTok, a teacher known for his food review TikTok videos recently shared a story of how their student was too shy to share what she brought to class because it was not as extravagant as what others have brought to their potluck lunch.

With the caption, “It disheartens me to see kids thinking that I would treat them differently because of their background.”

“I can’t believe this kid kept it from me. Probably too shy to take it out.”

“So I took it. Let’s see what’s good about this kuih. Her mother made it, but she refused to let me have a taste. Hey, it is good. Not too sweet. It is cold, too,” they added.

He then proceeded to share the kuih with all his students.

In the comments section, many shared how the food they brought to potluck lunches did not become a crowd favourite.

One of the comments shared, “My mother once packed rempeyek for a Hari Raya potluck lunch. Nobody wanted it including my teacher.”

“This one friend came along and I told her to take it all home.”

Others commended this teacher for his actions, thanking him for not leaving the kid out during the potluck lunch.
