Two massage and reflexology outlets offering illicit services for as little as RM80 per session were uncovered following a special operation carried out on Thursday (9 April).

The raid, conducted at about 3 PM, was led by the Johor branch of the Immigration Department during Ops Gegar at two massage and reflexology premises around the city.

Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said a total of 22 individuals, including foreign nationals, were detained for suspected involvement in immoral activities and misuse of social visit passes.

He said the outlets were believed to be operating under the guise of traditional massage services while offering prohibited services to customers.

ā€œInitial checks found that 21 foreign nationals, seven men and 14 women aged between 18 and 41, were detained.”

ā€œThey comprise citizens of Myanmar and China and are believed to have been working as massage therapists without valid permits,ā€ he said in a statement on Saturday (11 April).

Mohd Rusdi added that a local man, believed to be the premises manager and the main individual responsible for coordinating operations and recruiting foreign workers, was also arrested.

Offered low priced packages

Investigations revealed that the premises offered low‑priced packages, including unspecified additional services, to attract customers.

ā€œAll those detained are being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963,ā€ he said, adding that seven summonses were also issued to witnesses to assist with investigations.

All detainees have been placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further action.
