It wasn’t just the K-9 units stealing the show this year, two feline mascots from our uniformed units made huge waves at the Merdeka Parade in Putrajaya.

Part of the Civil Defence Force contingent, Oyen took centre stage when he posed beside his owner atop a boat, starting from the parade’s practice round last Friday.

Not wanting to be outdone, Shimba, a new recruit in this year’s parade, also stole the spotlight.

His owner shared, “He’s still an intern and new to the job.”

To some, the kitties even outshined the buff army models on display.

Netizens had plenty to say about the viral images and videos.

“Oyen looks tough. No wonder he’s now Head of Department!”

One user commented, “Hello my little friends, thank you for your service!”

But to us, the real reason these kitties were there was to keep up with the K-9 units on duty.

So, which kind of cuteness would bring you to next year’s parade? Share your choice in the comments below!
