We are now well into our second year of the Covid-19 pandemic and tensions are higher than ever. More people are struggling to survive and it looks like the end to their struggles is nowhere in sight. If you want to help those who are struggling but don’t know how to, you’ve come to the right place.

How Malaysians are using #KempenBenderaPutih

The #KempenBenderaPutih started as an initiative by the people, for the people, where those who are struggling to feed themselves and their families are urged to display a white flag outside their homes so that help can easily find them.

Wob White Flag Campaign 3

The initiative quickly turned into a national campaign, as white flags started popping up all over Malaysia. One struggling hawker in Penang had even almost ended his own life, just before he received the help he needed after putting up his white flag.

But, this campaign is so much more than just helping those in need, it also exposed the general public to injustices that our community members are facing.

Factory workers in Sabah utilised the #KempenBenderaPutih as a call for help as they’ve been going hungry. Over a thousand of them have not been paid their salaries in three months, causing their financial struggle.

The #KempenBenderaPutih initiative has brought the attention of Malaysians where it is most needed, to the people that desperately need help.

How Malaysians have stepped up

With this campaign came various other initiatives in an effort to help as many as they can.

Food banks started opening up around every corner, with Malaysians ready and willing to help the underprivileged.

Wob White Flag Campaign 4

Not only did companies and public figures extend aid, but even public servants and ordinary folks who earn modest wages are stepping into providing assistance where they can afford to.

But, sadly, there are many out there who have yet to receive assistance. That’s why we need YOUR help.

WORLD OF BUZZ is here to help!
