A team of firefighters successfully managed to rescue a woman attempting suicide at Jalan Maharajalela, today 11 March.
In the incident that occurred at 8.57am, the 39-year-old woman was seen standing on the roof of a monorail station flyover, at a height of 9.1 meters.
According to Sinar Harian, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Senior Operations Commander Wan Hamizan Kamaruddin said the woman, who is a local, also held a knife and placed it at her neck to prevent the rescue team from approaching her.
“As a result of the firefighter’s quick actions, they managed to secure the victim at 9.28am safely,” he said.
He added that the victim did not suffer any injuries and was handed over to the police for further action.
Kuala Lumpur Operations Center has also informed that a total of 23 members from the Hang Tuah and Pudu Fire and Rescue Stations were involved in the rescue operation.
