Following yesterday’s (April 1) devastating Putra Heights gas pipeline fire, many homes have been destroyed, forcing many to seek shelter at temporary relief centres. Many casualties and injuries were also reported.
Given this, several organisations are stepping in to lend a helping hand to those in need, and this includes pets! If you or someone you know is a pet owner affected by the Putra Heights blaze, these organisations are ready to help:

If your pet requires urgent care due to smoke inhalation or injury, you can bring them to Putra Heights Vet Clinic, which will be providing emergency relief for those in need. You may also WhatsApp them.

In collaboration with Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM), these organisations are offering free treatment and food to pets affected by the fire.

This vet clinic in Subang Jaya is offering free boarding and treatment to pets affected by the Putra Heights explosion.

The Malaysian Animal Association

The Malaysian Animal Association will be offering free shelter and pet care services for pets affected by the fire for 7 days, starting from today until April 8.
Animals that will be accepted include cats, birds, pet civets, hamsters and rabbits. No payment will be required, and all pets will be placed at Shelter Galeri Animal Malaysia. Transport for pets is also provided.

For anyone who needs assistance to check on pets or extract them safely from the Putra Heights vicinity, you may send SPCA Selangor a direct message on Instagram or WhatsApp them these details:
- Owner’s Name & Contact Number
- Pet’s Location (Full Address)
- Type & Number of Pets
- Current Status (Are they indoors, caged, roaming, etc?)
- Any additional concerns (e.g. medical conditions, accessibility issues)
The team is currently compiling a list to assess the situation and coordinate with local authorities. The rescue mission will proceed once clearance is given by emergency services.
